Providing His Hope for Street Kids
After a decade of war, pervasive poverty and abusive families; over 200k Ivorian children have been forced to fend for themselves on the streets. Their lives are characterized by abuse, addiction neglect, fear and hopelessness. Most survive by stealing, selling drugs or selling themselves.
For the Gospel to be ‘Good News’ to these kids, it has to address the ‘Bad News’ they are living in. So for these Street Kids, we do what you would expect:
- We Feed them, clothe them and give them a safe place to stay.
- We help heal their physical & emotional wounds.
- We help get them back in school or provide skills training so they can get a job
- And if their parents are still alive, we help repair broken relationships and restore them to their estranged families.
But meeting these needs is just the beginning. Every child we care for is involved in a journey of obedience based reproductive discipleship. The process we use is called Discovery Bible Study. Each individual interacts with God’s word and answer 4 questions:
- What does it say?
- What does it mean?
- What will you do?
- Who can you tell?
As kids without families discover a Father who loves them and choose to obey His will, it releases power and things begin to change. As they get others like them to repeat the process, the circle of change starts to spread.
Supporting Street Kids This Season
During Christmas we celebrate an unlikely child who changed the world. In the same way, we believe that God has ordained that some of these Street Kids will change their world. Our partnership is not just about caring for the needy or saving the lost, it is about launching a DMM that will ripple among the Street Kids of Abidjan. Would you consider supporting our ministry with them?
